… and … - Wednesday, February 8 at the Titusville Fire Headquarters, 550 S. Washington Avenue in Titusville, in the multi-purpose room on the second floor.
Each open house will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., and FEMA representatives from Atlanta will be there to answer flood insurance-related questions.

The old system of paper-based flood zone maps will be replaced with new Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps, created with modern aerial mapping methods, user laser measurements and computer modeling. This means that the maps are much more accurate, and thousands of properties have been removed from Special Flood Zone Hazard Areas.
Homeowners and business owners should review the new maps, as they may include changes in flood risk classification and in mortgage loan requirements. Home owners could qualify for a Preferred Risk Flood Insurance Policy. Mortgage lenders are not required to notify their customers of these changes.
Changes presented on the new maps are based on a study FEMA recently completed using updated flood models and flood elevation data. However, the maps are regarded as “preliminary” until the appeal process concludes and the adoption process is completed, in approximately 6 to 9 months.
